Contests Extreme Sports Skateboarding

Workin’ The Angles Contest

A Video Contest put on by Concrete Skateboarding Magazine, Ultimate Distribution and GoPro which focuses on the Filmer and their creativity in filming and editing. Of course you know that these guys were still gonna portray some of the best skaters around to help make their angles that much better to watch.

These are your 2 Finalists, check out both Vids and cast your vote. The winner will take home this amazing package

Your Finalists are:

Antosh Cimoszko (From Tsawwassen) with “Grey Angles”

featuring the skating likes of Aleka Lang, Michael Ray and Andrew Classon

and Jeff Pineau (From Moncton, NB) with “Bunkton”

featuring the skating likes of James Leger, Justin Allain, Marty Arsenault, Brooks Wirsz, Sebastien Bertin, Steven Steeves and Alex Marr

[vimeo id=”50400026″ width=”620″ height=”360″]

I voted for Grey Angles, not because it’s from the Local Guy, but because to me, it showed the most creative angles around filming, and he focused more on the filming than the skating itself which is what the contest was about. A true videographer on the rise.

Way to go Anton and Jeff, can’t wait to see who wins

That’s Life – The Final Teaser

This is the last Protest Teaser I had in my collection to share. Right in the heart of the filming time frame for the What the “F” Video a lot of these tricks didn’t make it in. Cisco Gooding, Jeff Cole, Jon Irvine, Nathan Lintunen and my self Hippie Mike all laying it down. If anything you need to watch for 3 reasons

  1. The Christmas Morning Cannonball off my roof
  2. Jon Irvine’s Fandangle Fingerflip
  3. Cisco Gooding attempting to need a Proctologist Appointment – Ouch!

But Hey, That’s Life!!

Tom Korop – The Pitts

Every Skate Park has a Local that kills it, I think this is the one for Pitt Meadows. I don’t know Tom Korop, but I was told that I should, and after watching this video, I think I will most likely remember his name. From Nollie Lazer Flips to Double 360 flips, and a whole lotta tough manual tricks, this kids definitely got some skills. What I want to know is how did he pull off 2 sessions at Pitt Meadows Skate Park without 1 scooter kid getting in the way??

Filmed by Ty Williamson, check it

Don’t forget to send in your video links to Hippie Mike for review, and if he likes it we’ll post it on the site

Loosey Goosey

Well, the title says it all. We were definitely gettin’ loose back in these days. The video starts at one of my birthday parties back when they were like 150-200 people getting wasted in the yard while we put on a ramp demo. Then it moves into Leeside Tunnel where it was time to get tech, and of course there’s some rocks and dirt spots in there too. You can figure out  the Time Period by what stage Leeside was at, if you’re hardcore enough to be a part of that scene.

Some crazy tricks in this video, especially thrown down be myself and Jon Irvine, the master of Ridiculousnessblunt kickflip rock on the volcano in Leeside?? I think it’s safe to say no one else wants to do that one…

Remember what it was like

Remember what it was like to be a young kid skateboarder learning lots of tricks and getting out there filming with your buddies, before being sponsored and so well known; before having a bag of tricks so huge that you need a full size pick up truck to cart it around with you, and before having everyone always expecting you to kill it wherever you are… you know, when skateboarding was just for fun.

I found this video on Facebook through Kory Laan and I liked it a lot. It reminded me of being about 15-16 years old and just going out and having a blast with my friends and our skateboards. Filmed by Max Macievich, it features a bunch of the young Chuck Bailey Loc’s like Tanner and Jackson Hawthorne, Kory Laan, JR Barron, Francois LeBlanc, Majed Salem and Dominic Devries, with some super power from a couple of the older dudes like Calvin Dignard and Ryan Prasad. All in all, a good little video for us older guys who have been around the block a few times to sit back and remember what it was like when we were at that stage….

Extreme Sports Kaelen Faux Protest Skateboards Skateboarding Team Riders

2 Year Old Lands Ollie – Kaelen’s 1st Skate Part

Well, you can tell he’s mine by his crazy hilarious mentality and his long flowing locks but growing up in a house of hardcore skaters definitely influences Kaelen to ride a skateboard. And since he has about 7 completely different boards, he experiments with new tricks on each one. I love being a Dad and Carrie and I are lucky to have such an awesome son and he is proving to grow up quick but clever, he’s getting close to 3. Everything you see him do in this video he learned on his own, we had no influence in teaching him. Kealen learns all his skateboard moves by watching people skateboard and then trying what he believes he saw them do.

Monkey see, money do – the best way to learn…

Here he is: Kaelen Faux – at 2 years old

Anti Social Ramp Jam

[vimeo id=”50511079″ width=”620″ height=”360″]

Oh man, I was already super bummed that I missed this contest, and now I see the video. I love Mini-Ramps!! I totally would have loved to be there for this jam, but had already planned on a Best Trick at Chuck Bailey the same night not knowing about it. Either way, looked like everyone that showed up had a great time and I’ll make sure to be at the next one. At least with Sheldon’s video I can pretend I was there hangin’ out.

Cole Nowicki, Giet Rolan, Rob Rickaby, Adam Richter, and many more.

Sam Hampton Throws Down

Langley Loc, and actually – Walnut Grove Loc – Sam Hampton drops this sick video part, all pure street skating and super tech. Sam’s still a young buck so respect his skill level. I’ve known this kid for a long time from him coming out to lots of my events and he is a very solid skater who lands everything with ease and style. Reppin’ hard for Coastal Riders and the Surrey/Langley scene, the one trick I’d say I would label him best at is anything bigspin.

Check his part

Carrie Williams Cisco Gooding Extreme Sports Hippie Mike Jeff Cole Protest Skateboards Skateboarding Team Riders

SLO – MO – JOE

Another old Teaser Video made pretty much to play around editing. This one has the heart of the old Team Protest in it, myself Hippie Mike, Cisco Gooding, Jeff Cole, Brad Danyluk and Jon Irvine, along with some lines from my long time filmer Justin James, or “Numb-Nuts” as I call him. The only one missing from that era of Protest is Carrie Williams. I’d say this video was from around 2005 or 2006, close to the time when Never Give Up!! was released.

The entire video is in slow motion, even the tiny full pipe, which was soaking wet by the way and very slick.

Nothing too special in this Teaser, just a bunch of dudes having fun and doing weird tricks
