Here’s the second part of footage from the 6 Shreddly Sins Island Tour with Adam Hopkins, Drew Summersides, Dan Redmond, Jorden Murray, Desmond Hoostie and Danny Tumia. The Tour took place over the summer of 2012 across Vancouver Island. This video shows stop offs in Courtney, Nanaimo, Sooke and everyone’s favourite – Drunken Duncan.

A long awaited film from Girl Skateboards, this one should be pretty amazing, or Pretty Sweet, as the title promotes.
This Saturday November 17th, 2012 the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC will be packed with skateboarders of all ages, eras and generations. Doors open at 7pm. Hopefully you got your tickets ahead of time or you might have to wait for the DVD release.
Girl is a sick company who has always had a solid team of riders.

Here’s a quick video from Have 2 Skate Shop Owner Sebastien Fez Tellez just reminding people that even when it’s raining there are still lots of places to skateboard. There’s underground parkades, baseball dugouts, covered ramps, and even inside the shop. When the rain don’t stop, avoid it.

With today being a day to reminisce I would like to pay tribute to some of the local skaters who were my friends who we have lost over the years and we all miss every day:
Major Dave, Rachel Hunter, both just uncalled for tragic losses to the skateboard community.
Lee Matasi, chased down by an ignorant kid with a gun in 2005 and shot in the head on the streets.
Chris Whitmee, hit by a random bullet in a public washroom. The guy it was meant for took 5 shots and is still alive.
Josh Evin, tragic motorcycle accident.
And Don Hartley, The Mad Carver, a solid face to face collision with one of his best friends during a Bowl Series Contest at Seylynn Park.
These are just to name a few, and unfortunately I’m sure I missed some people.
All these people were great influences on us in many ways, when they were living, and even after we lost them. And they all shared a passion for skateboarding, a passion for friendship, and a passion for Freedom.

Kaelen Faux loves skateboarding, which was pretty much inevitable since both me (Hippie Mike) and mom (Carrie Williams) are skateboarders for life. It’s Kaelen’s 3rd birthday on Sunday, November 11th and I asked him if he wanted me to get a Clown to show up at his Daycare on Friday, and he said he wanted Ryan Brynelson to come instead and do a Freestyle Demo for all his classmates. I talked to Ryan and of course he was down. Kaelen really loves watching Ryan skate and I figured this might be a great opportunity for Kaelen to join in to the Demo and show off some of his skills in front of all his friends that know absolutely nothing about skateboarding. And so it happened. Everyone was super stoked!

Here’s another stylish video from Ethan Craig filmed all in the month of October completely on a Hi-8 Camera. It’s pretty long but worth a watch, not for the tricks necessarily, or even for all the rippers that are featured in it – Ryley Antoniuk, Gabe Dinorscio, Giet Rolan, Joe Buffalo, Hideki Ishii. Michael Ray, Ryan Lepore, Taylor Senft, Zach Barton, Mike Campbell, Mike Graveline, Adam Hopkins and Many More. But like I said, this video isn’t about who’s in it, it’s about a guy who loves to film, and loves to edit and it shows. You can really see the premeditated visuals that Ethan carries around in his head prior to going out filming by all the fillers, funky angles and intro shots throughout the video. These are the shots that most people think of after the fact while they’re editing their footage and seeing the backgrounds at spots, where Ethan is seeing it as it happens, and in a way, showing up prepared for it.
It’s a fun video, lots of creative spots in ditches and on the back roads of North Van, at the ramp downtown, and of course at Leeside, and it brings back memories while you watch that old crackly style Hi-8 Footage of how skateboarding used to be when I was young…

We finally have the Protest Team Rider Profiles up and running on the site. Now you can follow your favourite Protest Riders without having to search through the entire site. With 12 people on the team there’s always lots of content going up on the site. Just click on the Team Riders Section at the top of the page and pick the one you want to see. All news, videos and events that related to that person should be in there. The photo galleries are available for most people so far and we will be constantly adding more photos so they will be updated.

The title says it all, but I’m not talkin’ about drinking too much. I’m talking about when you’re just out there living your everyday life, travelling to work and back, or riding the public transit to get to your favourite skate park. 3 separate Bomb Incidents have been reported along the skytrain tracks since Friday. The first one shut down the train between Gateway Station and Scott Road on Friday for hours, causing a major ruckus with crowds of people just waiting to fight for their seat on a bus now. There were 3 canisters with an explosive devise on the actual track that were discovered as a potential bomb. That night another mysterious package was found at the Metrotown Station that had to be apprehended and now on Monday, a Pipe Bomb at new West Station. What’s scary about this is that these are explosives that could just go off at any time and you would not be expecting it at all. Places like Skytrain Stations and Bus Loops are big targets for psychos because of how many innocent victims are around. It’s easy for them to place the weapon without being noticed and it’s huge news if they can injure a whole bunch of people.
So nobody knows who is responsible for this, or what there motive is, but be forewarned that there is definitely a psychopath out there with some screwed up plan in their brain right now and you need to be cautious wherever you go. Are these real bombs? Is it a real threat? Is this crazy person just testing the waters before actually placing something really destructive? Nobody knows. But take it into account if you’re riding the train for the next while.
